The visiting guidance has changed slightly and I have put a summary below.
Contact with relatives and friends is fundamental to care home residents’ health and wellbeing and visiting should be encouraged. There should not normally be any restrictions to visits into or out of the care home. The right to private and family life is a human right protected in law (Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights). In the event of an outbreak each resident is allowed one visitor at a time inside the home even if the resident themselves has tested positive. Visitors should not enter the care home if they are feeling unwell, even if they have a tested negative for COVID-19 and avoid visiting for 5 days after they feel better. Visitors should be encouraged to wear face coverings when in the home, particularly when they are moving around the home. Visitors attending to support with personal care should have a negative LFD test before entering the home, unless medically exempt. Proof of this test result should be shown to the care home prior to entry. This can be an email or text from reporting the result, or a date stamped photo of the test cartridge. If they are unable to produce a negative test then they may be asked to reschedule the visit. Care homes do not need to retain the records of proof.
