We held our Remembrance Day service today at 11am, like so many others across the country, we honour those who served, those who have fallen, and those who lost loved ones who fought for our freedom.
Our lovely gentleman shared these poignant words and memories following the laying of the wreath:
“War is never worth it, you loose so many young lives, waste so much money, and end up back where you started”
he talked about his time serving in the Air Force, and living in Devonport as a child, before being evacuated. He said at school he remembers that two days after every bombing the headmaster would call out the names of those that died, and sometimes that’s how children in the school learnt they had lost friends and relatives. He was very emotional but said he was so proud to have paid tribute to those lives lost.
JG also laid a wreath and said “I am honoured and privileged to be able to continue to pay my respects to those who have fought and served “.
Lest we Forget
