Although our residents are still very sad about the passing of our Queen, we have managed to have good week. They have asked to watch the TV highlighting Prince Charles becoming King Charles III and the journey of Her Majesty all the way to Westminster Abbey, where the queen married Prince Philip in 1947, and where she was crowned in 1953.
On Monday, Luke the Harpist came to visit the home. On Tuesday, our residents enjoyed the visit of Helen from Tranquil Moments and a wonderful afternoon tea as per as a celebration of what would have been BS’s 100th birthday. Her daughter HT came to share with our staff her experience of being “The daughter of one of our residents” and what it meant for her and her family to have both her Mum and Dad looked after and cared for by us for over 5 years. It was a very moving speech during which HT expressed and recognised how much support and love HT and her family felt and received from our staff who quite understandably were very touched – there were no dry eyes in the room.
On Friday, we also welcomed Chrissie who happily sang to our residents who were happy to join in too.
