Sadly Captain Sir Tom Moore lost his life to Covid-19 early this week, he touched the whole nation. I always try to look at things with a positive approach and will remember Captain Sir Tom as the man who proved to all of us that people can achieve amazing things no matter how old they are, as indeed what Captain Sir Tom did was extraordinary. The Army veteran won the nation’s hearts by walking 100 laps of his garden last spring during the first coronavirus lockdown, raising money for “NHS Charities Together”. He had initially set out to raise £1,000, but he eventually raised £32,794,701 from more than 1.5 million supporters and was knighted by the Queen in July.
No matter your age, Captain Sir Tom proved to us that life can be exciting and enjoyable, and that you can set challenges for yourself and achieve them. This really talks volumes, especially for us working in a care home.
