Today is a wonderful celebration to mark the end of WWII which is very inspiring given the Coronavirus challenge we are all facing at the moment. It reminds us that together we can achieve wonderful things, it gives us strength and courage for our next common big challenge: Win against the Coronavirus and Keep Safe. We all took 2 minutes to reflect of what it must have been like for all men and women to live during the WWII, all their sacrifices and efforts.
With VE in mind, we have decided to dress up and turn our face masks into a bit of a feature! On Friday 8th May we wore “gaz masks” as a funny way to decorate our safe masks. For those who could, we had our hair up in a scarf, and we wore blue, white or red.
Di prepared an afternoon “2 Alta Vista Road street party” which promised to send us back down memory lane. We all enjoyed the lovely cake and cup cakes. We also had a pretend picnic.
Some of the residents were dancing boogie woogie while Derrick was reading some 75 years old “fresh news” as we got a copy of the paper back then.
Our Residents also watched a live streaming concert with Mike Sidaway Music Entertainment: Special 75th Anniversary Concert to commemorate VE Day – Friday 8th May 2020. This entertainment went down really well. All in all, we had a Jolly good time! Thank you to all the staff for joining in.
