Last Friday (26th April 19) we invited in ‘Private’ Reuben Reeves from 1 RIFLES – Devon and Cornwall Regular Infantry Battalion to visit the lovely residents at Harbour Rise and also to meet our staff. We even involved him in a friendly bed making contest against the champions bed makers at Harbour Rise – Sally, Pam and Clareece!

Reuben is the partner of a member of staff at Harbour Rise and we thought it would be great for residents and staff to hear about his experience in the Army since he joined eight months ago. Many of the residents were exposed to the Second World War and the military and they were all interested in meeting with him and talking to him about his training. He spent time in the lounges with the residents and then also went to residents rooms also to spend time talking with them.

In the Army there is a strong emphasis on being neat and tidy and a squarely made bed is very important. So we had a friendly bed making competition with Reuben competing against the Harbour Rise General Assistants as to who makes the best bed!! We won’t reveal who won though but the Harbour Rise team did very well.

Reuben brought a LOT of fun and excitement for everyone, the ladies all loved his smart uniform.
