On Tuesday 20th November, Mr Stanley (Stan) B travelled in the glass viewing carriage of the Dartmouth Steam Railway, to the beautiful village of Kingswear. The trip was organised by Harbour Rise in conjunction with Peter who has worked for the steam railway for over 40 years.
Stan has always loved trains, he started his working life as a mechanic in a local garage he then joined Great Western Railway as a fireman and later progressed to an engine driver, commencing on steam engines and retiring 46 years later on the High Speed 125. Over the years his routes would be Wales and the West Country.
Stan had a really lovely time and it brought back wonderful memories being back on this local steam train. Everyone made a fuss of him and he welcomed having a good tour of the train and also the station.
