I have worked in care for over 35 years, starting out as a S.E.N. in local hospitals then joining Harbour Rise as Head of Care in 1987. I have completed my NVQ training and obtained my RMA in 2007 when I became the manager of Harbour Rise. I am passionate about my job and have high standards of care. I very much enjoy the family team atmosphere at Harbour Rise. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family especially my three grand-children, I also enjoy reading crime novels on my kindle and going for a walk locally by the sea with our dog.
Cécile Edwards was born and educated in France. Cécile holds a Foreign Languages degree applied to Business and Economy from Angers University. Cécile also studied at Hull University where she graduated with a degree in European Studies in 1997. Cecile and her husband purchased Harbour Rise in June 2007; since commencing the ownership of Harbour Rise they have embarked on an extensive programme of updating the premises and equipment and have continued to invest in staff training. Cécile enjoys cooking and taking part in lots of sports.
Day care co-ordinator / office assistant
I moved moved from my home town of Wallasey on the Wirral to my husband’s home town of Brixham with my family 26 years ago. I started my career in administration in Liverpool before leaving to have a family. After moving to Brixham, I worked in the main post office for many years before making a move back into office administration. I have been at Harbour Rise for the past 16 months and for me it is like being part of a lovely large family. Outside of work I love spending time with my family and my 4 lovely grandchildren down at their beach hut, reading gritty crime novels and eating out with friends.
Head of Care
I started working at Harbour Rise when I was just 19! I worked initially part-time as a Laundry Assistant. Since that time I have gained lots of care experience and became a carer, then a senior carer, then being promoted to Head of Care in 2008. Working closely with Alison and the directors and I am very proud of the homes reputation. Our residents make our home such a special place and it is wonderful to be part of their lives; to be able to see how well residents settle and flourish is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. I have completed my NVQ levels 2, 3 and 4. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, I especially like seeing live music and eating out and visiting St Agnes in Cornwall.
